Initiatives!

At iCAN Kids Walter Payton, we are committed to empowering youth voices, advancing healthcare research, and building inclusive communities where young people can thrive. Our initiatives reflect our dedication to advocacy, leadership, and collaboration—locally and globally.

Advocacy for Pediatric Research

Our members actively participate in national and international conversations around pediatric healthcare. From presenting at summits to supporting youth-led research, we make sure kids and teens are heard in spaces where decisions about their health are made. Our chapter President, Leo Larvick, was highlighted in Block Club Chicago for his advocacy efforts in bringing the international iCAN Summit to our youth members! This recognition underscores our mission of empowering youth to be powerful agents of change.

Local Community Engagement

We believe advocacy starts at home. One of the ways we support our community is by assembling and donating care packages to families staying at the Ronald McDonald House, offering comfort during challenging times. Our chapter partners with local organizations, schools, and hospitals to promote awareness and action around healthcare equity!

Fundraising & Support

To sustain our advocacy work and prepare for future Summits, our chapter hosts engaging fundraisers in partnership with restaurants like Chipotle, Panera Bread, and more! These community-centered events not only bring people together but also help ensure that financial barriers don’t prevent anyone from having a seat at the table. Every dollar raised supports our mission to amplify youth voices and promote equity in healthcare!
